Impact Transition Services CIC provides release-day transport, escort, and resettlement support for young people aged 16–24 leaving custody in London and Birmingham.
We are there at the gate — and stay with them through the first critical 72 hours.
Gate to Destination
We collect the young person from the prison gate on their day of release and transport them directly to their first destination — probation appointment, supported accommodation, home address, or youth justice service. No delays. No uncertainty. Safe arrival confirmed.
Orientation & First-Day Support
We don't just drop them off. We stay. Our mentor guides the young person through their first hours — orientation to their new environment, explanation of expectations, and a calm, consistent presence during the most disorienting moment of their transition.
Connection to Services
We make sure the young person is physically connected to the services they need: probation check-in, benefits support, accommodation induction, ID registration, and GP registration. We hand over to the receiving professional and confirm safe arrival to the referring agency.
The Evidence Is Clear
"The immediate post-release period is the highest-risk window for recall, crisis, and harm."
"Effective through-the-gate support is the single most impactful intervention for reducing short-term reoffending."
The need is not in question. The gap in provision is not in question. What has been missing is a specialist, young adult-focused service that is there at the gate, every time, with the right people. That is what we are here to provide.
75%
"Up to 75% of young people released from custody reoffend within 12 months."
43%
The proportion of children held in custody on remand remained high at 44% (up from 43% compared to the previous year),
£113m
Diverting just 10% of children from the criminal justice system toward effective support could save an estimated £113 million annually
What We Provide
Core Service (included in every referral)

-
Welfare & Orientation Support: Trauma-informed, calm first-contact. We meet the young person where they are — emotionally and practically. We explain what happens next, answer their questions, and help them feel less overwhelmed at the most vulnerable moment.
-
Safe Arrival Confirmation: We do not leave until we know they are safe. Formal handover to the receiving professional, key worker, or accommodation provider. Written confirmation of safe arrival sent to the referring caseworker, YOT officer, or probation worker within the hour.
